Nightmare service from ground crew at the gate

We had a connecting flight with Austrian from Bangkok to Vienna and the connecting flight was also Austrian airline we can to the connecting gate 15 minutes before there were people walking in the gate access and we were refused because the gate was closed and that was 15 min before flight from Vienna to Düsseldorf
The gate crew was very very rude and inflexible we could easily get boarded
So we bought a new ticket € 700+ for 2 persons and waited 5 hours
My advice I NEVER EVER FLY WITH AUSTRIAN DON’T DO IT!!!!
